In an era defined by "wicked problems"—from climate instability and food insecurity to
shifting geopolitical landscapes, skepticism and declining public investment—post-secondary
institutions must move beyond traditional silos to remain resilient and relevant. At the University of Alberta, this necessity has catalyzed a transformative approach to graduate education. This panel presentation explores how a large, research-intensive university has intentionally restructured its internal ecosystem to build a new generation of interdisciplinary graduate programming designed for scale, access, and societal impact.
